Sorry everyone that I haven’t been on GamerLimit much writing about anything. I do want to add I visit the site to at least view the news as often as possible. Truth is I restumbled across something that I’ve already stumbled across before, but now for some reason it all makes sense to me this time around. If any of you don’t know i’m talking about Microsoft’s lovely little framework XNA. I know nothing about C# or game development for its entirely unexplored territory when i’m concerned with it. Granted I did teach myself some basic stuff like html and php, C# and programming isn’t just in another ball field, its in another league entirely of its own. When 3.0 was first released I attempted to dabble in some stuff all to my utter and complete failure. This past week using 3.1 I decided to take a different approach. Before I decided to try and learn C# first, that just didn’t happen. This time I went straight into game development knowing nothing and just using tutorials. There is a tutorial now up on creators.xna.com thats extremely helpful and about a million others around the web. I’m almost complete with the tutorial in recreating the game that they’ve created and the way they’re teaching it I understand all of it. I was gonna move onto some better stuff I found on the net but decided to stick to finishing each project I start first.
I’m going to cut myself off there before this just runs on and on. My point is the only way I could learn how to do something complicated was to learn it ass backwards. Weird isn’t it. To prove I’m learning it I even dabbled into some other things I had ideas about and managed to make them work. When I actually go to create my own original game (it’ll be quite awhile) I will lay out a basic script and character plots here for everyone to see and read for comments and opinions to see if they’re better or not. Also when i’m finished with even my tutorial games and games with borrowed content such as sprites and such that I can’t legally sell I will post a link to them so you all can download them to play for free. Until then…
